Hummus with beetroot

  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 1 cooked beetroot
  • 3 teaspoons of tahini paste
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • juice of half a lemon 
  • a handful of fresh cilantro (optional)
  • salt and pepper 


  1. Cook the beetroot or use precooked beetroot from the store
  2. Drain the chickpeas and put them in a blender
  3. Then add the beetroot, garlic, ground cumin, oil, tahini, water, coriander and the juice of half a lemon
  4. Mix the contents well until the hummus is smooth
  5. If the mixture is too thick, add water or olive oil
  6. Add salt and pepper 
  7. You can serve the hummus with bread, olive oil and seeds
